HILLY areas of Sheffield received a covering of snow at the weekend - and forecasters have warned more flurries could fall in the next couple of days.
An inch or two of flakes settled on Saturday afternoon and evening, and the snow remained throughout yesterday.
Meteorological Office forecaster Tony Conlan said: “Today, the temperature will be as low as one degree and could stay below freezing around the hills.
“There is due to be sunshine and scattered snow showers plus a biting wind of 20 to 25mph with gusts of 40mph.”
Mr Conlan said temperatures will remain ‘below average’ with more snow showers possible tomorrow, before drier weather on Wednesday and Thursday. Rain is expected to move in on Friday.
Frosts are likely with lows of minus six predicted tonight.
