THE Great Sheffield Flood of 1864 will be brought to life during a children’s event.
Sheffield Archives will tell the tale of the fateful night in 1864 when 240 people drowned after the Dale Dyke Reservoir dam collapsed, sending 650 million gallons of water surging into the city.
The interactive event will see children asked to take on a character and see if they survive the deluge.
The event takes place at St Mary’s Church, Bramall Lane, on Saturday, from 2pm to 4pm. Entry is free.
