Chesterfield woman locked up for £37,000 benefit fraud

A Chesterfield woman has been jailed for 14 weeks after claiming nearly £37,000 in benefits she was not entitled to.

Sharon Morley, aged 53, of Wren Park Close, Chesterfield, continued to claim benefits while her partner Peter Matthews was living at the same address.

She told the authorities Matthews was living with her in July 2013 but the couple had been married since June 2010.

Morley admitted two offences and was jailed for 14 weeks.

She claimed £36,665.34 to which she was not entitled.
