A MEDIEVAL heritage event is to be held at a South Yorkshire priory.
The Friends of Monk Bretton Priory, Abbey Lane, Lundwood, Barnsley, are holding an open weekend.
There will be guided tours of the site, as well as medieval-themed entertainment such as calligraphy, board games, ‘hunt the monk’ and fancy dress.
The priory was founded in the 1150s and the French monks who lived there controlled agriculture and natural resources on many sites between Wakefield and Rotherham
The event will be held on Saturday, September 11, between 11am and 4pm, and Sunday, September 12, between 11am and 3pm.
Admission is free.
