An eight-year-old boy has been given a certificate by police to thank him for his honesty.
Charlie Cannon and his dad Paul, who live on Wingerworth Way, found a small helicopter drone in their garden and took it to Chesterfield police station.
The previous day a resident on Langer Lane had reported the device missing to local police officers.
He had owned it for less than a week, and said it had gone down somewhere in the area but he didn’t know where.
PCSO Kirsty Handby said: “It was a really unusual report and the man told us about it on the off-chance that it might have been found.
“He said he honestly thought he would never see it again.
“However, thanks to young Charlie, the drone has been returned to its owner.”
