Charity offers free dog microchipping

GET your dog microchipped for free at a Sheffield charity.

The RSPCA animal centre, Stadium Way, Attercliffe, is offering the service on a first-come first -served basis this Saturday, between noon and 2pm.

Cats and ferrets can also be microchipped at the discounted price of £5 per pet.

Stella White, centre general manager, said: “In 2012, we microchipped more than 500 animals at our events.

“We are pleased to still be able to offer an event to microchip dogs for free, while the limited number of donated microchips – which were given us by the Dogs Trust – last.

“We cannot emphasise enough how important and easy it is to get your pet microchipped with us.

“So much heartache and inconvenience could be saved for both owner and pet by just taking a bit of time to carry out this simple procedure.

“While we are always glad to welcome pet owners and their pooches to carry out this important service, we would politely remind people we are a charity and so, on the day, any monetary donations would be gladly received.

“Your donations do not necessarily need to be money – we would be delighted if you were to drop off a stock donation at our centre for one of our new charity shops at Woodseats or Hillsborough, but please note we cannot take furniture at present.”
