CHARITY was the biggest winner when the Lord Mayor of Sheffield spent a night at the dogs.
Lord Mayor Coun Alan Law enjoyed an evening at Owlerton Greyhound Stadium on Penistone Road staged to raise money for his chosen charities Amy’s House, which provides holidays for children with special needs and their families, and St Luke’s Hospice.
The night netted more than £3,000 through ticket sales, a raffle and auction, which will now be split between the two.
Coun Law said: “I would like to thank Owlerton Stadium for their hospitality and hard work to make this event such a success.
“I would also like to thank everybody who came along and donated so generously to this wonderful cause.”
Owlerton Stadium managing director John Gilburn said: “We are always keen to work with local charities at the stadium so were delighted when the Lord Mayor wanted to host a charity event here. A great night was had by all.”
