Police have confirmed that a 69-year-old woman was hit by a train at Chapeltown station.
The woman has yet to be formally identified.
This is the second death at the station this year.
A spokesman for British Transport Police (BTP) said: “We were called to Chapeltown station in Sheffield at 12.50pm on Friday, October 9, following reports of a person being struck by a train.
“Colleagues from South Yorkshire Police and Yorkshire Ambulance Service also attended and a person was pronounced dead at the scene.
“The incident is not being treated as suspicious, and officers are now working to identify the person and inform their family.
