Chance to win snooker sketch by artist Pete McKee

RENOWNED Sheffield artist Pete McKee is offering one lucky snooker fan the chance to win a specially-commissioned painting.

Pete shot to fame last year when he was commissioned by Oasis guitarist Noel Gallagher to paint a portrait of him, which was displayed on London's South Bank. His paintings often sell for four-figure sums.

The 42-year-old has been at the 888.com World Snooker Championship throughout the last week, drawing sketches in public areas and backstage.

His eight sketches tell the story of a day at the Crucible, including fans waiting outside the stage door, former world champions Stephen Hendry and Mark Williams practising together and Ronnie O'Sullivan doing a press conference.

"I feel really privileged to have been given backstage access to the Crucible, I've been a snooker fan for most of my life," revealed Pete.

"Snooker is a big part of Sheffield, it all brings together a big gathering of Sheffield people. It's nice to have been able to catch the human side of the game - and many different moments which the public don't get to see.

"I've stripped my sketches down to the bare minimum, but hopefully they tell their own story."

Now Pete is giving you the chance to win the completed version of one of these sketches - to be presented in the Crucible arena ahead of this year's final.

To enter, pick your favourite sketch and send your choice by e-mail to competitions@

worldsnooker.com putting 'Snooker Sketch' in the subject field. Don't forget to include your name, address and phone number.

Entries must be received by 5pm on Friday May 2. The winner will be drawn at random from the entries for the sketch which receives the highest number of votes.

The winner will be notified the next day and will receive the painted sketch from Pete McKee in the Crucible at 1pm on Sunday, just before the start of the final.

Please note the prize does not include tickets to the final or any travelling expenses.
