BOSSES at Doncaster Racecourse will throw their doors open for free next month as part of a national campaign.
A total of 25 racecourses are taking part in the campaign, which sees each course giving away free tickets for a different date during April.
The Town Moor course holds the last of the free days, on April 29, the same day as the Royal Wedding. Tickets must be booked in advance.
A spokesman said tickets were already proving popular and may applications had already been received.
Rod Street, chief executive of Racing for Change, which is leading the initiative, said: “This groundbreaking move in April is being organised in a bid to attract record numbers of new customers to the fun and exciting sport of horse racing.
“It’s also a great way to reward existing fans of the sport.
“The aim of the month is to appeal to people who have been infrequent visitors to horse racing in the past or who have never been to a racecourse.
“At many of the meetings, there will be staff, literature and displays to explain more about the sport.”
Tickets for the free racing day at Doncaster can be applied for on-line. Log onto www.lovetheraces.com to apply on the internet.
Those wanting to apply by post can write to Racing for Change, 75 High Holborn, London WC1V 6LS.
The free week in April 2010 meant an additional 40,000 visitors flocked to the races, said organisers.
