Families who have battled tough times could have their homes totally transformed - just in time for Christmas.

Volunteers with Sheffield’s Hope City Church and The Megacentre changed the life of a single mum-of-two in Richmond last year when they gave her house a massive renovation and refurbishment with goods donated entirely by city businesses.

Now they are searching for two Sheffield families who are living in difficult conditons through no fault of their own to help.

Ali Bianchi, Sheffield family life pastor at the church on Bernard Road, said community groups and individuals were welcome to put people forward.

He added: “We are looking for people, perhaps they are single parents or families who have gone through difficulties in the past year, whose homes aren’t in great condition, to help.

“The idea is to get a house totally ready for and give families a great Christmas.

“Last year was fantastic, the difference we made to the family’s home was incredible, so we are stepping it up this year to help two families.

“There has already been a lot of support from Sheffield businesses wanting to donate products and help out.”

Volunteers have also helped transform Pipworth Primary School in Castlebeck as part of Project180.

Over 150 volunteers and 25 businesses united to carry out a revamp with £15,000 of donated resources in June.
