Champion gundog reported missing

A NATIONWIDE search is under way for a champion gundog believed to have been stolen.

Angel, a four-year-old German short-haired pointer, had been on a walk with her owner when she vanished.

Dawn Maw, 42, had just put her other three dogs into her car and was about to put Angel in when she realised she was missing.

She then spotted a white Transit-stye van speeding off from close to where she had parked near the Old Wagon Way, off the A635 Lane Head Road, Cawthorne, Barnsley.

Mrs Maw, from Barugh Green, who has shown Angel at Crufts, said the dog is one of only two national champions and may have been stolen to order. She has contacted every vet in the country and all ports have also been alerted.

n Anyone with information can call 101 and quote incident number 227 of December 6.
