ARE you up to the challenge?

Mistress Cutler Julie MacDonald certainly hopes so.

She’s challenging local businesses and community groups to use their ingenuity and creativity to help raise thousands of pounds for The Children’s Hospital Charity.

The annual Master Cutler’s Challenge recruits teams to put their skills to good use and raise cash for good causes.

But this year Julie, wife of Master Cutler Neil MacDonald, is setting the challenge with a twist – renaming it The Mistress Cutler’s Challenge.

Each company and community group is given £50 and has six months to turn it into as much money as possible using entrepreneurial skills.

Sheffield-based GRI Group is the main sponsor and has donated £20,000 to kick-start the event.

Mistress Cutler Julie hopes to raise tens of thousands of pounds for The Children’s Hospital Charity’s Make it Better appeal, which is backing a £40m development at Sheffield Children’s Hospital.

She said: “I chose to support The Children’s Hospital Charity because I have spent most of my life involved with children through Girl guiding Sheffield, and many of those children have been treated at the hospital.

“My own children were, at one time, also patients of the hospital. ”

Julie will be arranging several of her own fundraisers including a classical concert and the Mistress Cutler’s Ball.
