SPIREITES fans and other Chesterfield residents are being given the chance to help decide on the new street name for a housing development at the club’s old Saltergate ground.
Chesterfield Council and the football club have joined up to run a competition which involves members of the public being asked to come up with ideas. Whoever proposes the winning name will receive a matchday experience at the club.
Coun John Burrows, Chesterfield Council leader, said: “The old ground played such a significant part in many people’s lives so I’m sure many will want to have an input into this lasting legacy.”
Chesterfield FC chief executive, Chris Turner, said: “We expect to hear some great names from past and present.”
