HAPPY birthday to you... and happy birthday to you, too!

There was double reason to celebrate at one of Sheffield’s newest care homes when two residents celebrated major milestones.

Staff at Brackenfield Hall, Frecheville, which is operated by Ideal Care Homes, threw a party to mark the 101st birthday of Hilda Adamson and the 102nd birthday of Lily Frisky.

The celebratory bash also welcomed their relatives and friends and the Lord Mayor Coun Sylvia Dunkley, who called by for a glass of champagne and a slice of birthday cake.

Knitting-mad Hilda was born in Attercliffe and has lived in Sheffield all her life, becoming the first resident at Brackenfield Hall when it opened in October 2009.

Her other hobbies include reading and spending time with her family and friends. She also loves to watch snooker on the television.

Her attitude to life is to “just enjoy it” - and surprisingly declares “lots of greasy food” to be the secret to a long life!

Lily, who was born in Paradise Street in the city centre, left school at the age of just 14 and has also lived in Sheffield all her life. She still keeps active with weekly exercise.

Senior care assistant Helen Mitchell said: “Lily is a very lively lady who looks forward to taking part in the tai chi sessions here at Brackenfield Hall.”
