Two Sheffield sports centres have been awarded ‘baby- friendly’ pool status.
Concord Sports Centre and Hillsborough Leisure Centre have been approved by the Huggies Little Swimmers scheme, supported by The Institute of Sport and Recreation Management.
The national benchmark means the centres, operated by Sheffield International Venues, have a range of facilities for parents and babies and encourage swimming.
They include keeping baby- changing facilities at the recommended temperature, having an area suitable for baby swimming with parents and baby-friendly steps and maintaining standards of hygiene and health and safety.
The centres also hold baby splash swimming lessons for kids aged from six months.
Richard Apps, general manager for Hillsborough and Concord, said: “The baby- friendly status is great news as it will encourage more families to swim at the centres and reap the great health benefits swimming can bring.”
