Local residents, community organisations and businesses in the Highfield area are delighted that the Boundary Commission listened to the 10 objections they received to the original proposal to include Highfield in the Park and Arbourthorne Ward.
The Boundary Commission report said “respondents generally argued that including the community of Highfield in this ward did not reflect community identities”.
It was argued that a railway line and a main road separated Highfield from the rest of the ward, and as such there were few shared links between the two areas.
Congratulations to the voices of the local community who made sure they were speaking too loudly to be ignored.
It’s great to know that sometimes people power is still alive and well.
