A Sheffield couple have raised a total of £970,000 for The Children’s Hospital Charity after hosting their 25th annual Daffodil Ball.

David and Jean Fyfe, who run Fyfe Financial on Ecclesall Road South, welcomed more than 200 supporters to the ball including special guests singer Katie Melua and motorbike racer James Toseland.

The event, at Baldwin’s Omega in Brincliffe, raised £22,000 towards a £3m 3T MRI scanner for the Sheffield hospital as part of the charity’s Make it Better appeal.

Mr Shungu Ushewokunze, consultant paediatric neurosurgeon, said: “This piece of equipment will mean our hospital is a world-leader in the treatment of brain tumours in children.”

David, who has been involved in organising the ball since 1990, said: “We are proud to support The Children’s Hospital and would like to thank the generosity of those that have contributed to our success over the years.”
