SPORTING stars have turned out in force in Sheffield for a charity cricket match, writes Molly Lynch.
Former England captain Michael Vaughan - raised in the city - said squad members from the team which triumphed in the 2005 and legends of the game took little persuading to come together for today’s clash.
Dressed in a denim suit ahead of the 3.30pm start, Vaughan spoke of his delight at support for today’s event, which he hopes will ignite interest in cricket in Sheffield.
He said: ‘This is a great day for cricket in Sheffield.’
Celeb squad members including Freddie Flintoff and Robbie Savage have enjoyed a Q and A session in the corporate tent this afternoon. The Michael Vaughan and England Legends XI teams sat down to dinner and a charity auction.
