CAMPAIGNERS who defeated plans for an incineration plant are celebrating after the developers decided not to submit an appeal.
Developers Cyclamax faced huge opposition to their plans for a waste plant at Sheepbridge, near Chesterfield.
Derbyshire County Council turned down the application but, until the six-month appeal period expired, the action group was not certain if Cyclamax would appeal.
Chesterfield Against Incineration group organiser, Karon Glynn, said: “We are now planning to hold a celebration to mark our victory as a way of thanking the hundreds of people who supported our campaign, because this site was totally unsuitable for an incineration plant.
“We had to wait until the end of the statutory six-month appeal period because Cyclamax could have appealed and won.”
