Fundraising events to mark the eighth anniversary of a Sheffield woman’s death have made £500 for St Luke’s Hospice.

Revellers at a ceilidh at St Vincent’s Catholic Club on Solly Street raised £450 for the hospice. The evening featured Irish music and dancing, including a performance by folk singer Mimi O’Malley.

It was arranged by 83-year-old John Dowling, whose daughter Theresa spent her final days at the hospice before she died in 2004.

Fundraisers at The Grapes, on Trippet Lane, contributed a further £50 by guessing the name of a teddy bear.
