“This was a violent, aggressive and targeted attack on a man travelling alone,” said Det Con Ian Grice from the British Transport Police.

The victim, from Worksop, was travelling by train between Nottingham and Worksop when two yobs boarded at Shirebrook, swaggered into the same carriage and then targeted him.

“The pair violently assaulted the victim, grabbed him by his clothes and pinned him to one of the tables where he was threatened and ordered to hand over his smartphone,” said DC Grice.

“They also took a small amount of money which he was carrying.”

The pair got off the train at Worksop and were last seen heading down Turner Road.

Anyone who recognises the youths in the pictures, or has information about the robbery on the 7.55pm service on Thursday, August 4, should call British Transport Police on 0800 405040 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
