CCTV clue in hunt for Sheffield burglar

Detectives investigating a distraction burglary in Worksop have issued a CCTV image of a man they would like to speak to.  The incident happened shortly before 7pm on Monday 23 July, when the female occupant of a house in Anston Avenue found a man had entered through an unlocked door.

POLICE have released a CCTV image, above, of a man they want to speak to in connection with a burglary.

It happened on Monday, July 23, shortly before 7pm, when the burglar walked into a woman’s house on Anston Avenue, Worksop, through an unlocked door.

He said he had come to pay for a car and showed her the cash to pay for it. When told he had the wrong address, he asked to use the bathroom, which the woman agreed to.

However, after he left, the victim discovered money had been taken from her handbag.

Police believe he may have called at several addresses in the area at about the same time, using a similar story.

He is described as white, slim, in his mid-20s, about 5ft 10in, with short, dark hair and wearing a white T-shirt.
