CHARITIES in South Yorkshire are benefiting from a £35,000 cash boost thanks to a community fund.
NatWest and Royal Bank of Scotland organised the scheme, with £15,000 donated in Sheffield alone.
Residents voted where their money should go to.
Voters at five NatWest branches in Sheffield - including those in Gleadless and Firth Park - chose the Yorkshire Cystic Fibrosis Trust to receive the top prize of £3,000.
Voters from NatWest branches at Hillsborough, Broomhill and Highfield chose to donate their £3,000 to Sheffield’s St Luke’s Hospice, and RBS customers voted to give £3,000 to Girlguiding Sheffield.
Rotherham Hospice, Thornberry Animal Sanctuary, Amy’s House, Gleadless Valley Community Forum, Elsecar Cricket Club, Barnsley Churches Drugs Project, Doncaster RSPCA, Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice, Maltby Festival, Dinnington Resource Centre and Winthrop Park also received between £1,000 and £3,000.
