EXTRA cash has been made available to fund a scheme which helps vulnerable residents live safely and independently at home.
Derbyshire County Council has awarded £15,000 to its Handy Van Network, which carries out free services including fire safety checks, general maintenance, security improvements and DIY.
The additional funding will allow a range of new specialist safety services to be provided including the installing home security equipment, including door cameras.
Councillor Carol Hart said: “An important aim of the Handy Van Network is to help residents feel safer at home and reduce their fear of crime, fear of falling and other physical harm.
“People who’ve benefited from the service tell us they feel a lot safer following a visit so we wanted to add to the range of services available.”
