Cash is coming in for our Miles Better Million campaign which aims to bring radiotherapy services to Doncaster for the first time.

Currently, cancer patients have to travel to Sheffield for gruelling treatment - but we have teamed up with Doncaster Cancer Detection Trust in a bid to collect a whopping £1 million which will bring the treatment onto the doorstep of thousands of Doncaster patients.

And even though our campaign is still in its early days, cash is already coming in to boost our appeal which will help fund a new cancer treatment suite at Doncaster Royal Infirmary.

Regulars at Auckley’s Eagle and Child have certainly done their bit, boosting the appeal by £250 through a variety of fundraising events.

On a sadder note, a further £1,600 has been raised for the appeal following the funerals of two Doncaster cancer patients.

Ada Henson and Peter Sanderson, both of Sprotbrough and lifelong friends, died late last year within a week of each other and Mrs Henson’s husband Walter and Mr Sanderson’s wife Jacqueline decided to collect for Doncaster Cancer Detection Trust at the funerals.

Mr Henson said: “We just want to say thank you to all those who donated.”
