Tails at a South Yorkshire animal charity are wagging with joy after it received a welcome cash boost.

Rotherham-based Rain Rescue has been awarded £300 from the Galaxy Hot Chocolate Fund which aims to support small community groups and charities across the UK and Ireland.

Rain Rescue provides homes for abandoned pets in crisis situations, primarily stray dogs at risk of being destroyed and cats and kittens on the street.

Lauren Sanderson, a fundraiser for the charity, said: “At any time, we can have 25 dogs in our care and even more cats, many of whom are pregnant.

“This donation will be spent on our day-to-day running costs and will help us feed a cat and kittens for a month, or pay to neuter five dogs.”
