Cash boost to tackle youth unemployment across Sheffield region

SHEFFIELD City Region has been awarded £50,000 to develop plans to combat youth unemployment in the area.

The cash has come from the Big Lottery Fund through its Talent Match initiative.

The Sheffield City Region partnership, led by Sheffield Futures, presented initial plans to the Big Lottery Fund judging committee which included a film by unemployed young people, highlighting their plight.

The partnership has now been given the green light, as well as a total of £50,000 of development funding, to work up detailed plans.

Vanessa White, who is from the Big Lottery Fund’s Yorkshire and Humber office, said: “The film clips the young people produced were a great example of the skills and passion just waiting to be harnessed.”
