Groups and clubs are to be given a new lease of life thanks to Derbyshire County Council’s community building grants.
The council launched a £1 million fund last summer offering voluntary and community organisations one-off capital grants of between £10,000 and £250,000 for building projects or equipment which residents will be able use for at least 10 years.
Chesterfield Panthers RUFC has been awarded £101,409 to provide an improved community facility for social, leisure, fitness and educational use.
The Parochial Church Council of St Thomas, Brampton, has received £94,436 to refurbish the Brampton Community Meeting Room. Hope Sports Club has been awarded £92,840 to replace its pavilion. Loundsley Green Community Trust has received £43,470 to make the centre a focal point for the community. And Eyam Sports Association has won £28,418 to improve the multi-use games area in the village.
Priority was given to groups that had already raised some cash towards new projects.
