A Sheffield woman who provides kids from disadvantaged backgrounds with free birthday cakes has received a £2,000 award to carry on her hard work.

Kate Thorpe , pictured centre, aged 29, of Sharrow Vale Road, set up Free Cakes for Kids Sheffield in September 2013 and bakes cakes alongside 50 volunteers in her spare time.

She received the money from her bosses at rail company, Arriva where she works.
