Cash boost for Sheffield environmentalists

Eco-warriors have been given a welcome boost following a charitable donation.

Sheffield charity the Steel Valley Project has received a £300 donation from confectionary company Galaxy towards its work helping people to care for and understand their local environment and improve habitat conditions for wildlife.

Cash came from the Hot Chocolate Fund, which is distributing grants to ‘warm-hearted people and projects’ this winter.

Tara Ball, of the Steel Valley Project, said: “This donation couldn’t have come at a better time.

“Due to a cut in funding we no longer have the resources to provide essential items for our volunteers, which has left them unable to work on some projects.

“These funds will be used to provide support for our volunteer base, be it personal protective equipment, travel costs or training, so they can continue their invaluable work.”
