It is important that young people receive information, advice and guidance on a range of different jobs and career paths to help them make decisions about their future, which is exactly what this event offers.
The event also gives the exhibitors, schools and parents the opportunity to help nurture the aspirations of these young people and help set them on a path to develop their strengths, whether they are practical, academic or both.
It is a great chance to speak directly to employers to find out what they are looking for in an employee and what skills and qualifications they require.
At the event you will be able to:
Gain an insight into what it’s like to work in various types of industry
Engage in experiences reflecting the training, learning and job opportunities in the current and future employment market
Learn about apprenticeships
Find out what qualifications are needed for different job roles
The next round of North Lincolnshire Council’s apprenticeships will be launched at the event. There will be roles for 10 apprentices within the council to start in April 2014. If you are interested in an apprenticeship with the council go along to the event to find out what job roles will be on offer and how to apply.
Visitors will leave the event inspired by the range of skills they have experienced and the wealth of career possibilities shown to them.
Parents are encouraged to come along with their children.
This annual event supports the council’s vision; to develop aspiring people by increasing the skills and education outcomes in North Lincolnshire; to remain competitive with the rest of the UK.
Councillor Liz Redfern, Leader of North Lincolnshire Council, said: “Last year’s Careers Event was a huge success and I’m sure this year’s will be just as successful – if not more. We have got a wide variety of businesses attending the event that people will be able to talk to and find out more about what they are looking for in an employee.
“We will also be launching our next round of apprenticeships that will start in April 2014. If you are interested in an apprenticeship at the council go along to the event to find out more. Our apprenticeship scheme is very successful with the majority of people going onto full time employment, level three apprenticeships or further education.
“We understand how important it is for you to choose the right career or course, which is why we are offering a helping hand by putting everything all in one place. There will be businesses, colleges and universities on hand with some great advice.
“It is important that we continue to provide support and advice for people in North Lincolnshire which is why we provide the Careers Event along with many other events throughout the year. Don’t miss out on this great opportunity.”
This year’s event is supported by The Skills Show, the European Social Fund and the National Careers Service.
