Two care workers have been found guilty of ill treating and neglecting an elderly dementia patient at a Sheffield residential home.

Carol Grant and Ann Culley, both aged 51, were found guilty by a jury of locking Barbara Bell out of her room at the Lime Trees care home in Devon Road, Pitsmoor.

Jurors also found the women had refused to help the pensioner go to the toilet and had shouted and sworn at her.

Grant, of Calder Way, Firth Park, and Culley, of Longley Close, Norwood, Sheffield, were both cleared of ill treatment and neglect of a 93-year-old man with dementia.

The jury will continue its deliberations on a third similar count relating to Grant only today.
