Jill Wall was only meant to do three months as interim manager at Sheffield’s Broomgrove Nursing Home, off Ecclesall Road – but trustees, staff and residents were so impressed by her she was persuaded to stay on.
Now seven years later Jill, who revived the fortunes of the region’s only care home with charitable status, is handing over the leadership reins to Donna Donna Pierpoint..
Originally a specialist palliative care nurse, Jill is leaving to become a clinical nurse specialist at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals.
Jill said: “Although I’m sad to be leaving I’m glad to be going on a high note and happy I’m handing the role over to such a capable person.
“I’m proud of what I achieved at Broomgrove. Particular milestones include the refurbishment of all public areas, the purchase of a minibus, the opening of day-care facilities and the introduction of a new organisational and management structure.”
Donna has just spent nine months playing a lead role in the development of a national programme to improve safety, efficiency and experience in NHS care homes right across the country.
