A MAIN road in Rotherham was closed causing traffic chaos after a car struck a lamppost yesterday lunchtime.
The smash involving a black Nissan GT-R happened on Centenary Way, Rotherham, at 12.40pm.
Rotherham town centre ground to a halt as ambulance and fire service vehicles responded.
Medics landed the Yorkshire Air Ambulance helicopter on the carriageway near to the New York Stadium, bringing lunchtime traffic to a standstill.
One casualty was trapped in the car and had to be cut free by firefighters. Another is believed to have walked away unharmed.
Centenary Way was closed between Pool Green and Ickles Roundabout for several hours while accident investigators visited the scene.
