Car show raises over £3,000 for charity

A car show in Sheffield city centre raised £3000 for eight local charities.

More than 50 cars from local dealerships were displayed on Fargate and Barker’s Pool and were visited by the Lord Mayor Talib Hussain.

The Vulcan Rotary Club, event helped charities including Roundabout, the Yorkshire Air Ambulance as well as a new helipad for the Northern General hospital and Sheffield Children’s Hospital’s Gastroenterology department.

Roger Hart, 70, one of the event organisers said: “We wanted to support all local charities this year, especially Sheffield Children’s Hospital because we wanted to support a charity for Crohn’s disease and a waitress at the Rotary Club has the disease.”

The show boasted brand such as MG, Vauxhall and Toyota.

Dealerships paid to display their cars and a bucket collection raised £261.48.

The Rotary Club said that they have plans to return next year because of the success of the event.
