DOZENS of residents are objecting to plans to rebuild and extend a car dealership.
Under the proposals, to be considered by Sheffield Council’s city centre, south and east planning board on Monday, Peter Brooks Honda on Chesterfield Road, Woodseats, would be revamped with demolition of the existing facade and construction of a new shop front, an extension to the rear workshop including a new MOT test bay, and alterations to the car park.
Thirty objections have been made - mainly due to the reduction in size of the dealership’s car parking area as buildings are extended by 106 square metres. Already, 10 to 20 cars park on surrounding streets and residents have complained the extension will make matters worse.
Sheffield Council officers have recommended the development is approved, saying the altered and extended buildings “would be in keeping”. Officers say a planned “reconfiguration” of the site will mean 12 staff parking spaces, compared with four now.
