Car crashes onto train tracks at South Yorkshire station

Trains from Sheffield to Lincoln were held up after a car crashed onto the tracks.

Commuters had a shock when a car ploughed through the fence at Kiveton Park railway station at about 5pm yesterday.

A spokesman for British Transport Police said the car had 'collided with fencing and gone onto the train tracks'.

The spokesman added: "We attended and located the driver and vehicle.

"The ambulance service also attended and treated the driver who had sustained minor injuries.

"Shelters on the platform were damaged.

"We are investigating to establish the circumstances of the collision.

"No one has been arrested or reported in connection with this incident at this time."

Services between Sheffield and Lincoln were delayed or cancelled as a result of the accident, although the car did not make contact with any trains.
