CITY centre traffic came to a standstill following a two-car smash in Sheffield.
Police and ambulance crews were called out to a collision near to the junction of Glossop Road and Upper Hanover Street just after 12pm yesterday.
One casualty was taken to Northern General Hospital by ambulance, while paramedics treated others involved in the collision at the scene. A blonde woman who had been involved in the crash was visibly shocked as she sat on a traffic island being comforted by emergency services.
A green Peugeout 306 and Citroen Xsara people carrier both suffered substantial damage to their bumpers as a result of the incident, which happened outside a Sainsbury’s store.
Huge tailbacks were caused as police officers diverted traffic around the two vehicles in the road during the busy lunchtime period.
