Capital meeting for charity

The head of Sheffield charity Support Dogs was heading for London today - for a meeting with a Government minister.

Rita Howson, along with one of the charity’s most active clients, Toni Brown-Griffin and her dually-trained guide and seizure alert dog Hetty, will meet Esther McVey, the Minister for Disabled People.

The meeting has been arranged by Deputy Prime Minister and Sheffield Hallam MP Nick Clegg, following a pledge to do what he could to support the charity after a meeting last October in Crosspool.

Rita said: “Although we are a national charity, working throughout the UK, it isn’t as easy for those of us based in the north to get the ear of the relevant minister. Ms McVey will know all about Support Dogs by the end of the meeting!”
