IT was hats off to these youngsters as they marked the end of their days at nursery school with a special ‘graduation’ ceremony.
Children at the Bright Beginners nursery on The Wicker in Sheffield city centre donned caps and gowns for the event - which was a special one for the staff too.
“We only opened in September 2008 and most of these youngsters have been with us for all that time - so it was a little sad to see them moving on to their various primary schools,” said nursery manager Sarah Godwin.
Many of the 24 young graduates had come from the four corners of the world - including Africa, India, Pakistan and China - and had been learning lots of English during their time at Bright Beginners.
“It was all about celebrating their achievements and many of the parents came along to enjoy the occasion too,” Sarah added.
“This was the first time we have held such an event and we got the idea because three members of our staff have graduated themselves this year, after completing early years degrees.
“The children absolutely loved the day, although it was a little bit sad for them as they are going on to six or seven different schools.
“At the end they all threw their caps in the air in the traditional way - and it was all such a success we’re planning now to make this an annual tradition,” Sarah added.
