A TENANT jailed for of growing and supplying cannabis has now lost his Sheffield council flat.

Gareth Pitts, of Margate Drive, Burngreave, was convicted at Sheffield Magistrates’ Court in December of supplying cannabis, producing cannabis and possession with intent to supply cannabis.

It followed a police search of his flats last September when officers saw him throwing a wrap of cannabis to the floor. They searched his property and found two ounces of cannabis, along with cling film and digital scales.

Pitts, aged 25, admitted possession of cannabis with intent to supply and was jailed for 12 months.

Sheffield Homes took action at Sheffield County Court to repossess his property was granted an immediate possession order.

Coun Harry Harpham, cabinet member for housing, said: “There is no excuse for breaking the law and using properties for crime.”
