Cannabis grower evicted from council home

A Sheffield Council tenant has been evicted after being found guilty of cannabis production in his home.

Jerome Williams, aged 30, had been living at a council property on Washington Road, Sharrow, since December 2007.

He was convicted of producing and possessing cannabis in 2011 and Sheffield Council took action to evict him.

He had the eviction suspended on the condition he didn’t commit any further offences – but in June police found more cannabis plants growing at his home.

He was convicted again of producing the drug, and has now been evicted.

Coun Harry Harpham, cabinet member for homes, said: “Mr Williams was given the opportunity to amend his ways.
“We will not tolerate illegal activity in or near council properties.”
