CANINE couple Murphy and Bailey are nine years old - 63 in human years - and have been together their whole lives.
But rather than looking forward to a happy retirement together, they are facing an uncertain future.
The Staffie pair have been in the care of the RSPCA for over three months and are desperate to find an owner who will let them see out their old age together.
“These two really love each other,” said Richard Woodwards, animal centre manager at the RSPCA Chesterfield branch. “They cuddle up together every night and groom each other, and Murphy - the male - puts his paws around Bailey as they sleep.”
The dogs came into the centre in March as their previous owner was working long hours. They were reserved, but the adoption fell through.
“Normally we would split dogs after such a long time but we have decided these two must be re-homed together,” Richard added.
