In Wardsend Cemetery there is a portion of a carved obelisk about four feet high.
The whole thing, which stood at the top of the main path is shown on a painting of the Upper Don Valley in 1864, now in the Weston Park Museum and looks to be about eight feet high but shows no detail of the carving.
Do any readers know how the whole thing looked and whose memorial it is?
