Council workers are hitting the road to encourage more people to become foster carers in Rotherham.
A fortnight of roadshows have been organised by the Family Placement Service in a campaign designed to find residents who can provide a stable, supportive environment for young people.
Mayor of Rotherham Coun Dave Pickering will launch the recruitment drive with a balloon release in All Saints Square in the town centre tomorrow.
Fostering Fortnight events take place in Montgomery Hall, Wath-upon-Dearne on Wednesday and Aston Library on Thursday. There will also be sessions at Greasbrough Library on May 21 and Maltby Leisure Centre on May 22.
They will give people the chance to hear from the fostering team and existing carers in a relaxed atmosphere.
Coun Pickering said: “It’s important that young people can be offered a caring environment closer to home, so the more carers we have locally, the better.”
