RESIDENTS are being invited to make a big splash at their local swimming pool as part of a national campaign.
North East Derbyshire Council has joined forces with British Swimming and the BBC to launch the ‘Big Splash’ at its pools in Dronfield, Eckington and Clay Cross.
The campaign aims to inspire residents to discover swimming as an easy way to stay healthy and have fun.
Dronfield Sports Centre, Eckington Swimming Pool and Sharley Park Leisure Centre will be running a host of Big Splash-themed events – from aquafun sessions to crash course swimming lessons.
Events will start during summer holiday activities at the three sites, from July 25.
Coun Graham Baxter MBE, leader of North East Derbyshire District Council, said: “Staying fit and healthy doesn’t have to mean taking to the treadmill, and this campaign is all about helping people discover the benefits of swimming.
“Whether people are taking to the pool for the first time, rediscovering swimming or want to improve their skills, our centres have Big Splash activities for everyone.”
