CYCLISTS are being encouraged to compete against professional riders in a challenge across the Peak District this weekend.

The Phil Liggett CTC Cycle Challenge Ride is taking place on Sunday and a final call is being made for participants to sign up.

Phil has been commentating on the Tour de France and all the top road races in the world for over 25 years and is known to many as the ‘voice of cycling’ in the UK thanks to his Channel 4 and ITV work on the major races.

The cycle challenge will have two routes available, 100km and 150km, taking in climbs including Holme Moss, Winnats Pass and Monsal Head.

The well-established longer route takes in over 2,600m of climbing.

Both routes will be fully signposted, timed, have well- stocked feed stops and mechanical back-up on route as well as the start and finish.

Entries can be made online or by post, costing £27 or £17, for CTC club members and group bookings for teams of four charged £60.
