A charity which bakes free cakes for children in Sheffield has been shortlisted for a £500 grant.
Free Cakes For Kids Sheffield is one of 161 groups nominated to receive a grant from Skipton Building Society’s grassroots giving team.
If successful, the group plans to use the money to put on baking workshops for parents and children as well as continuing to bake for families in poverty, homelessness, or any other unfortunate situation which may otherwise see them miss out.
However, the charity needs public support to win the cash, and is calling on the people of Sheffield to vote online to secure the grant.
Free Cakes For Kids works with different charities, schools and social workers across Sheffield who refer families to the service for a cake.
It also bakes cakes for children supported by food banks, the NHS and the NSPCC, as well as children in care or families living in refuges and hostels.
