AIR Cadets and staff from Askern Squadron headed to West Yorkshire to take part in the Inter Squadron Cross Country race, held at Pontefract race course.

The course was more than two-and-a-half miles around the race track and parts of the surrounding park.

The cadets competed in four out of the five categories on the day because they had no cadets eligible for the final category.

They finished 13th out of the 33 squadrons taking part - an improvement on last year’s 19th place.

“It was a great result and a fantastic turn out from the squadron,” said a spokesman.

“We improved on last years result and beat some of our local squadrons, which is always nice for the cadets.”

The cadets meet at Askern Spa School.
